about this map

This map shows educational attainment, or the highest level of education a person has completed, in the continental United States (2016 data). Choose an education level from the dropdown to see patterns of educational attainment by US county. Although data for each level tends to aggregate in certain areas, America as a whole is more educated than ever before.

According to the US Census, 90% of the US population age 25 and older has now completed at least a high school education.
